A different approach to depression treatment
Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray for adults whose depression has not responded to two or more oral antidepressants. It is taken in a clinical setting under medical supervision and used alongside an oral antidepressant.
Spravato is not a replacement for oral antidepressants. It is an additional tool for people whose depression is not improving with traditional treatment alone.
Spravato may be right for you if...
- You are an adult, age 18 or older.
- You have major depressive disorder or treatment-resistant depression.
- You have tried at least two oral antidepressants without adequate relief.
- You are willing to attend in-clinic sessions and remain at the clinic for at least two hours after each dose, for medical observation.
- You have transportation arranged for after each session, since you cannot drive yourself home.

Frequently asked questions
How long does each session take?
Plan on about 2.5 to 3 hours per session: 5 to 10 minutes for the dose itself, then a minimum 2-hour observation period.
Can I drive home after a session?
No. You may not drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day after a Spravato dose. You must arrange transportation.
Are there side effects?
Common side effects include dissociation (a feeling of being disconnected), dizziness, nausea, sedation, increased blood pressure, and headache. Most resolve within a few hours. Alicia will review the full list during your consultation.
Is Spravato the same as ketamine?
Spravato is esketamine, which is one of the two molecules that make up ketamine. It is FDA-approved specifically for treatment-resistant depression and major depressive disorder with acute suicidal ideation, and it is administered as a nasal spray under medical supervision.
Will Spravato replace my current medication?
No. Spravato is used alongside an oral antidepressant. Your prescriber will work with you on the right combination.
How long until I notice a difference?
Some patients notice changes within the first few sessions, but response varies. Alicia will track your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed. We do not guarantee specific outcomes; Spravato is not effective for every patient.
